Calculating torque from BHP

How do you work out torque from bhp ?

Power = force x speed.

In rotational terms:

power = torque x angular speed

torque (Nm) = power (watt) / angular speed (rad/s)

2pi rad/s = 1 rev/s
1 rev/s = 60 rev/minute
hence 1 rpm = pi/30 rad/s

Divide engine power in watts by engine speed in rpm, then multiply by 30 and divide by pi. the result is the torque at the speed and power output in Nm.
