These are notes from an article by Keith
Calver on instructions according to Peter Calver.
Parts needed:
bracket 12G1053
pulley 12G1054
fan C37222A
belt GCB10825
Procedure:
Disconnect battery
Remove regulator box from car, carefully marking all connections
Remove dynamo, etc
Fit alternator, new bracket, and new belt
Dismantle regulator (use junk regulator if you have one)
Remove coils and contacts
Remove connections to blade terminals
Solder links between terminals A, A1, and D, connecting all three
Solder a link between terminals F and E
Reconnect loom to correct terminals EXCEPT connect ignition warning light (brown/yellow) to terminal E
Connect alternator to loom: Large wire to large terminal (output), and small wire to small terminal (sensing)
Reconnect battery
If I recall these instructions assume use of Lucas alternator and keeping pos (+) ground. If you convert to neg (-) ground, you need to make sure battery is installed correctly and that the battery connections at the ignition coil are correct.
