Standard 1275 engine (IME'd 20 Dec 2002) & how to measure unswept area
From the Rover Mini Service Manual (AKM6353)under the heading 'General Specification
Data'.
The following are the bore and stroke measurements for a standard
1275 engine, and should enable you to calculate volume.
Don't know about the unswept area. (is there any at the top other than dished
piston)You can , however, measure it:
Place a clear Perspex plate over bore with piston at TDC, small hole drilled
in centre of plate to take
hypo. Fill top of bore, using hypo, with light oil till plate is just covered
on underside. Note amount of oil used. This equals
unswept volume.
Suggest measuring each bore then averaging.
Bore 70.61mm = 2.78 inch.
Stroke 81.28mm = 3.2 inch.
Capacity 1275cc =77.8 in.cubed.
