E series Additional Info: The E-series was an all new design.It was designed as a 6 cylinder OHC engine to go in the ADO17 landcrab with a side mounted radiator.This compromised the bore size which were siamesed.The E6 went into the landcrab with a front mounted radiator in 1972....... Two cylinders wer chopped off to produce a 1485cc version for the Maxi in 1969.The only way of increasing capacity was to lengthhen the stroke which resulted in 1748cc

originally a Buick engine, to which Rover bought the rights in the late
1950s. Confusingly, this was known by Buick as the R engine, but is completely unrelated to the Austin Rover R series. |
