latest news from the organisers

Somehow we knew this week would bring out the problems...
Unfortunately due to injury, Night Parade are unable to play on the Sunday evening. Obviously without a bass player, it wouldn't be the whole Night Parade experience - which wouldn't be fair on them or you. We wish a speedy recovery, and have them pencilled in for next year's event already.
We do have good news though, as local band The Dave Simpson Trio have stepped in at super short notice to take over the vacant slot and bring the event to a close with their take on blues, rock and alternative.

One week tomorrow, at 5pm, the camping pitches become available for those who have booked.
And booking closes tomorrow evening.
So if you don't book any of the final few pitches tonight or tomorrow, you will not be guaranteed a camping pitch, and you will not be guaranteed a barbeque!

BOOKING IS NOW CLOSED: our pitches have been booked. This doesn't stop you coming along
as a day visitor over the weekend, but it does mean that unless you bought tickets
before we closed the booking (or made alternate arrangements with us), you won't be able
to have the Saturday night barbeque.
Thank you to all those who have bought tickets, we look forward to meeting you next weekend!

25 days left til SkegMiniFest 2011...
We are beginning to run short on pitches so if you haven't already booked, please do. If you are a member of a club but your club doesn't want to or is unable to block book in time, book individually and mention your club name - we'll keep you all together!
Remember that once the bands finish on the Saturday night, we have solo and team karaoke (prizes available!) and DJ until the wee small hours - it's last man standing!
And if you want to bring a long any bits to sell, you can do so from your pitch at no extra cost!

5 weeks left til SkegMiniFest 2011... more pitches have been taken and tickets are being sent out!
We're now listed on Gig Guide Ltd which has helped to generate even more enquiries about SkegMiniFest and our line-up is full and confirmed.
Remember that although we're more than happy for you to come for one or both days, if you don't stay over with us you'll be missing out - so get booking!

Another update... 8 weeks left til SkegMiniFest 2011... pitches are being taken,
don't delay your booking for too long!
We're very grateful to the artists who are donating their time to perform at SkegMiniFest: their support of the event (in particular Fabulous Fury, coming all the way from Essex) has been brilliant. We may have some more bands playing alongside those we've got listed, so we'll be able to keep the music going even longer throughout the weekend.
And watch out for Fabulous Fury's music quiz on Saturday night - prizes will be available!

No, we haven't gone away, we've just been organising things...
We've arranged to have toilet and shower facilities for those camping, so should you need to freshen up once the Welcome is closed, you can now still do so.
Bookings are going well, remember space is limited so it's best to book - and pay - early. We do have a little delay in sending out tickets to those who have paid - bear with us, they're on their way.
We did have a little hiccup last week, when our web host had what they described as "a small explosion in their datacentre". Basically this made the SkegMiniFest website disappear for a while, but (obviously if you're reading this!) everything's now back up and running.
Unfortunately, Michael Caine's management company have let us down, and so we've had to source a signed photo from elsewhere. The full story can be found here.
And that's it for this update. We'll have the list of games updated shortly too, but I think the above is enough to be getting on with...

SkegMiniFest is now happening THIS YEAR... scary...
In other news, following some discussions with the Welcome Inn, we are now happy to announce that:
- small camping stoves are allowed for cooking breakfasts, making tea & coffee etc
- There will be a burger van on site and ice cream and lollies will be available outside throughout the weekend
- the Welcome Inn will be doing a special menu for the event, with cheap but good food (their normal menu will also be on offer)
- the Sunday carvery will be reduced in price, but not in quantity
We've aimed to make the food as cheap as going to a supermarket and buying your own to cook. So you should be able to have food made for you and just sit back and enjoy the event. The alcohol rule still applies, though: you can only consume it on the premises if it's been purchased from the Welcome Inn.

having been rather busy over the last two months
it's not been possible to update the site.
However, things have been moving on apace...
17/10/2010
updated the list of artists
appearing, and the online booking is progressing but not quite ready
yet. We've also got ourselves a sponsor, Cherished Vehicle Insurance,
who's logos (and of course links) will soon be added to the site.
08/09/2011
updated the camping and trade stalls pages with our
current pricing. Online booking should be available in the next
few weeks. We have a meeting shortly with our main sponsor...
10/08/2010
planning is going well, we may be in a position to
announce our main sponsor shortly. Updated the
raffle and game prizes page to include pics of some of the prizes.
18/07/2010
not much to report, just building the site and making
initial enquiries...
